Rain Cancellation Policy

Spring Rainy Day Policy:

Parents, please DO NOT call your managers or the league to ask if a game has been cancelled due to rain.  They will contact you.  The Santa Teresa Little League policy for rainout has an emphasis on protecting the children and preserving our fields.   The following is the protocol for cancelling games due to weather.

GAME CANCELLATION BY THE LEAGUE PRIOR TO START:

  1. Fields Director/President or his representative have the ability to cancel games at all fields.  If the director believes the field will be damaged or the conditions are not safe for kids to play on, an email will be sent out to all managers notifying them the game fields are down.

    1. Teams can not utilize the fields for games or practices once this is done.

    2. For the AAA/Major/Intermediate/Junior/Senior games will be attempted to be rescheduled according to first day either team practices on a Game Field. (in AAA there may be some instances where the game is outright cancelled and will not be rescheduled.  This would be due to lack of game field availability and coordination of rescheduling umpires.)

    3. For AA and below the games can be rescheduled by the division director and managers to the best of their ability, but there is a chance that not all games will be rescheduled.

    4. Umpires who are assigned to these games:

  • The originally assigned umpire crew will stay assigned to the makeup game if they do not have a game that will conflict with the rescheduled game.

  • UIC has discretion on rescheduling of umpires.  For AAA, if umpires are unable to be assigned to the makeup game, the game can be played with coaches and managers calling the game.

 

GAME CANCELLATION BY MANAGERS PRIOR TO START, ONCE AT GAME LOCATION:

  1. Managers for both team agree game should not be played due to weather or field conditions.

  2. Managers will notify all players upon their arrival the game has been cancelled.  They will notify the umpires upon arrival the game has been cancelled.

    1. For AA and below the games can be rescheduled by the division director and managers to the best of their ability, but there is a chance that not all games will be rescheduled.

    2. AAA - Managers will notify their respective division director and UIC of the cancellation.   An attempt will be made to reschedule a makeup game for a day either team has been scheduled to practice on a game field. If cancelled once the game has began then no rescheduling will occur. (in AAA there may be some instances where the game is outright cancelled and will not be rescheduled.  This would be due to lack of game field availability and coordination of rescheduling umpires.)

    3. Majors/ Intermediate/ Juniors/ Seniors:  Need to be scheduled on the next available dates.  This will be done by the UIC and Division Director.

GAME CANCELLATION BY UMPIRE ONCE GAME HAS BEGUN:

  1. Umpire (or managers in lower divisions) cancels the game after the game started due to weather or field conditions.

    1. AAA and below-  The game will not be rescheduled.

    2. Majors, Intermediate, Juniors, & Seniors- If game was called prior to 4 innings (5 innings Int, Jr, and Sr) of play the remaining game will be rescheduled.  If after 4 (5) inning of play the game will count as a complete game.
